Need support?
Would your clean tech enterprise, project or community initiative benefit from the range of professional support services that Leapfrog has to offer?
Reduction of greenhouse gases (GHGs) is the main criterion for the selection of Leapfrog projects but they must also demonstrate that they will deliver other sustainability benefits. For Leapfrog's international projects it is imperative that the efforts will also combat fuel poverty and improve the wellbeing of the host community.
Please contact us and let us know what you are doing. If it seems that your initiative matches our criteria and you are interested in applying for Leapfrog assistance, you will be asked to complete a Leapfrog Project Idea Note or PIN. We may be able to get someone to help with this. Once completed, Leapfrog will evaluate the opportunity and respond promptly. Assuming your project is selected, detailed discussions about your needs will take place to arrive at an agreed scope of works and to identify the key milestones and deliverables.
The Leapfrog Project Idea Note ("PIN")
There are 3 versions of the Leapfrog PIN reflecting the 3 types of projects and initiatives supported.
International Projects, wherever located, will satisfy the twin sustainability goals of:
- the reduction of GHGs; and
- alleviating poverty and improving the wellbeing of people in target communities (e.g. employment creation, training/skills transfer to locals, supporting local social entrepreneurs/building social businesses, providing access to affordable electricity, improving health etc)
Information sought by the Leapfrog PIN
The Leapfrog PIN will help us select projects and recruit Leapfrog participants. It is designed to extract high-level indicative information concerning the project, including details on:
- the project and its type, size and location
- parties involved
- project financing
- expected project schedule
- the technology that will be used
-
the expected sustainability benefits/effects of the project, specifically in relation to
- the estimated total amount of GHG emission reduction compared to the 'business-as-usual' baseline
- poverty alleviation
- socio-economic and environmental issues
- Carbon Finance - the estimated Certified Emission Reductions (CERs) / Emission Reduction Units (ERUs) / Verified Emission Reduction (VERs) or Voluntary Carbon Units (VCUs) the estimated price in $US or € per tonne of carbon dioxide equivalent (CO2e) reduced
- likely project duration and crediting period
